In this interactive online event, groundbreaking author and women’s rights activist Riane Eisler talks with author/activist/storyteller Jamia Wilson, ED of the Feminist Press and a powerful voice on feminist and women’s rights issues, and Carla Goldstein, cofounder of the Omega Women’s Leadership Center.

These three powerful leaders share provocative perspectives on how to transform the ways we express power and re-cast our notions of leadership itself. Eisler, Wilson, and Goldstein help us think more expansively and imaginatively about issues like:

Our Panelists

Riane Eisler is President of the Center for Partnership Systems and internationally known as a systems scientist, attorney pioneering the human rights of women and children, and author of the bestseller The Chalice and the Blade: Our History, Our Future, now in 26 foreign editions and 56 US printings. As an early feminist leader, she co-founded the first Women’s Center on the West Coast, wrote a brief to the US Supreme Court making the then-radical argument that women should be considered persons under the Equal Protection Clause of the 14^th Amendment, and helped change discriminatory laws, such as rape laws that put the victim on trial. Her many books include The Equal Rights Handbook (the only mass paperback on the proposed Equal Rights Amendment), Sacred Pleasure: Sex, Myth, and the Politics of the Body and The Real Wealth of Nations: Creating a Caring Economics, hailed by Nobel Peace Laurete Desmond Tutu as “a template for the better world we have been so urgently seeking.” Dr. Eisler lectures worldwide, with platforms including the United Nations General Assembly, the U.S. Department of State, Congressional briefings, universities, corporations, conference keynotes, and events hosted by heads of State. Dr. Eisler is co-founder of the Caring Economy Campaign, the Spiritual Alliance to Stop Intimate Violence (SAIV), and Editor in Chief of the Interdisciplinary Journal of Partnership Studies, an online peer-reviewed journal housed at the University of Minnesota that was inspired by Eisler’s work.

Jamia Wilson is many things: An activist. A feminist. A storyteller. A mediamaker. But more than anything, she is a natural-born thought leader. As Executive Director and Publisher of Feminist Press at City University of New York, the former Women, Action, and the Media Executive Director, TED Prize Storyteller, and former Vice President of Programs at The Women’s Media Center, Jamia has been a powerful force in the social justice movement for nearly a decade. As a leading voice on feminist and women’s rights issues, her work and words have appeared in and on several outlets such as New York Magazine, The Today Show, and The Washington Post. She’s also a staff writer for Rookie and has contributed to several books such as Madonna and Me: Women Writers on the Queen of Pop, and I Still Believe Anita Hill. But what we’re most excited about is her own book that she’s currently writing about Beyonce and feminism. (Yes, really.) It’s no surprise she was named in Refinery29’s “17 Faces of the Future of Feminism”.

Carla Goldstein, JD, is a pioneer in women’s leadership with 25 years of public policy experience on issues related to women’s rights, poverty, sustainability, and social justice. Carla serves as Omega Institute’s chief external affairs officer, helping Omega connect its work to change-making efforts around the world. Omega is the nation’s premier holistic learning center, offering innovative educational experiences to over 23,000 people annually and reaching over two million people online. Carla is also cofounder of the Omega Women’s Leadership Center, a hub for convening, inspiring, and training women to #DoPowerDifferently.
