Gunn asks Eisler to elaborate on where her passion for the work around Partnership Systems has come from:
"I trace it back to my own early childhood. I am a refugee child from the nazis along with my parents. On Kristallnacht, a gang of Gestapo men took my father away and I experienced cruelty, insensitivity, and violence. But also that night, I saw something else that has a profound impact on me and its what I called spiritual courage. Spiritual courage is the courage to stand up against injustice out of love and my mom displayed that courage, she could have been killed. She wasn't killed because she recognized one of the young Nazis who had been working as an errand boy for the family business. This was a moment for me of seeing these two human possibilities. I had to ask myself "does it have to be this way" and if there were any alternatives." - Riane Eisler
