Sande Hart of Charter for Compassion Women & Girls talks with Riane Eisler for the first online event in the V2020 series , ?How Did We Get Here?? Sande and Riane are joined by co-facilitator and partnership practitioner Donna Mills.
Riane discusses gender equity and how awareness of gender roles and values in our current social system can help us address the root causes of our world’s problems, and better understand what we can do to shift us towards a partnership system that nurtures a more compassionate world. Eisler commented, ?What women are beginning to understand, is that as important as it is to be against something?to protest?we really have to change the foundations of our social systems. How can we realistically build a better way of living on this planet?? Eisler shows how we can shift out of our current domination system through awareness of a gendered system of values. More caring, empathetic childhood and family relations is a key cornerstone of creating partnership systems, where the ?feminine? value of caring is valued economically and in all social institutions.
Eisler shares her new book, Nurturing Our Humanity: How Domination and Partnership Shape Our Brains, Lives, and Future. The book offers a clear perspective on our personal and social options in today?s world, showing how to structure our environments ? from family and gender relations to politics and economics ? to support our great capacities for consciousness, caring, and creativity.
