Join the B Women Reading Club on May 22, 2020 at 10am Pacific for a discussion of Riane Eisler’s groundbreaking classic The Chalice and the Blade. Moderated by Rosie von Lila, the conversation will cover how Eisler navigates the terrain between the current domination cultural system and an emergent, more caring partnership system. These two societal frameworks underlie the span of human cultural evolution. Eisler will trace this tension in Western culture from prehistory to the present.
Despite old narratives about an inherently flawed humanity, more and more evidence shows humanity is not doomed to perpetuate patterns of violence and oppression. Caring and humane values offer a partnership alternative with deep roots in the pre-patriarchy paradigm of cultural evolution. No utopia is predicted; rather, a way of structuring society in more peaceful, equitable, and sustainable ways is envisioned.
During this stay-at-home time of COVID, dive into a rich conversation about how partnership systems were a part of our human cultural heritage and how they can be re-implemented as viable social systems to create a more caring and conscious society.
We are celebrating 33 years of The Chalice & the Blade! Now in its 57th printing with a new Epilogue by Riane Eisler, The Chalice and the Blade has been published in 26 foreign editions, including most European languages as well as Chinese, Japanese, Urdu, Korean, Arabic, Hebrew, and Turkish.
